Do I need to bring any tools or equipment?
All tools and equipment will be provided. You will have everything you need to complete the building process.
Will I be "certified" as a pan builder?
Building pans is not a trade that has a certifying association, so there is no accepted certificate that can be issued. This week-long course is not to be confused with full time vocational training and does not suggest that you are able to use the “Mannette” name as a reference if you were to seek employment as a pan builder. The building workshop is solely meant to enhance your understanding of the instrument as a whole and to gain appreciation for the craftsmanship involved in the construction of the pan.
Where does the Building Workshop take Place?
The construction of your pan will be at the Mannette Musical Instruments shop, located at 454 Scotts Run Rd, Morgantown, WV 26501. There will be a shuttle provided from downtown Morgantown to the shop throughout the day if transportation is needed.
What type of pan am I going to make?
We will be making a Single Second pan - a very versatile single pan with a little bit of high and a little bit of low that you can show off to your friends! And yes; this is from a 55 gallon barrel.
